2 Chainz Has Reportedly Made $2 Million Off Dabbing Santa Sweaters
One of the most infectious holiday trends in recent years has been the ugly Christmas sweater. One of the most infectious dances of recent months has been “The Dab,” which bubbled underground hip-hop scene, thanks to The Migos, and brought into the mainstream by Carolina Panthers superstar quarterback Cam Newton. 2 Chainz, a true hustler and fashion connoisseur as evidenced in his rhymes, brought the two phenomenons together and brought the “Dabbing Santa Ugly Christmas Sweater” to the world for the holiday season. The man who claimed that everything that he got, he got from slangin’ birds, can now add this endeavor to his list. According to reports relayed from Forbes, Titty 2 Necklace has made $2 million off of this venture.
This success was not an instant thing for 2 Chainz and his team. He says they’ve been experimenting with a few different designs over the years, but struck gold with the Dabbing Santa. “We took the dab, which is a trend, and we just turned it into a business. We played around with a few designs. We realized what my fanbase wants to see,” said the ATL game spitter in his interview. “This is just timing meets opportunity.”
2 Chainz hasn’t kept the wealth to himself. Through his T.R.U. Foundation, he used some of his new-found fortune to help less fortunate veterans, who are close to his heart since his late father was an Army vet. With proceeds (and donning one of the sweaters), “Dos Cardenas” helped one veteran mother pay a year’s worth of rent and furnish her home. He also gifted another veteran mother with a minivan for her family. Of the philanthropic efforts, 2 Chainz said, “We made close to $2 million in revenue. I had a numerous amount of celebrities helping with the shirt. It was on the NFL, it was on TNT, it was on Good Morning America, it’s on ESPN . So I could not continue receiving those blessings without giving back at the end of the day.
In the weeks preceding Christmas, 2 Chainz opened his holiday 2 Chainz Shop, a digital haberdashery featuring the Dabbing Santa Ugly Christmas Sweater for men, women and children, along withe dresses , onesies for babies and coffee mugs. In addition to the premier design, alternates with a Dabbing Mrs. Claus and a sweater featuring two chains are also available. There is also the Dabbin Santa app, which he claims is “the fastest-cleared app in Apple history.” The 99 cents paid for the app will go to charity.
To thank all contributors, 2 Chainz said, “I want to thank everybody that’s supported this. All the celebrities, all the regular folks. I want to thank the people that came on board to help this operation. I want to thank the guys that actually opened up my pop-up shop here in downtown Atlanta. I want to thank my team, period. This was a bunch of minds that came together. We’re looking forward to capturing the hearts of men and women real soon.”
