The heat is on crews in Harlem, as law enforcement cracks down on gag activity. Around 5 o’clock this morning (April 19), NYPD officers and FBI agents (dressed in combat gear and toting assault rifles) kicked in doors at three East Harlem housing projects: the Washington Houses on Second Ave. and E. 102nd St.; the Metro North Plaza Houses on E. 101st St. near First Ave.; and the Lexington Houses on Lexington Ave. and E. 99th St.. A total of 30 suspected gang members were arrested.
Drugs and weapons were seized during the raid, according to the NY Daily Times. According to a source, “Those taken into custody were part of a wide-ranging drug conspiracy.” The source added, “There is no violence mentioned in the charges.”
Suspects have been charged and face arraignment this afternoon in Manhattan Federal Court.
