Shootings over the long Fourth of July weekend left 10 people dead and 54 others wounded.
Among those killed was a 7-year-old boy shot in the chest during an attack aimed at his father, according to police.
The boy died during a 9-hour stretch in which half of the 64 gunshot victims were wounded. Five of those people died after being shot and the other 27 were wounded between about 9:20 p.m. Saturday and 4:45 a.m. Sunday, according to police.
Six of the weekends 13 multiple-victim shootings happened during this 9-hour period, accounting for 15 of the 32 people shot.
