Fans of the late, great Tupac Shakur are looking forward to All Eyez On Me, the rapper’s upcoming biopic directed by Benny Boom. Pac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, will be played Danai Gurira, the actress who plays electric Michonne character in the renowned AMC series The Walking Dead. However, Ms. Shakur is facing some drama of her own in real life after filing for divorce from minister Gust Davis. If Davis has his way, Ms. Shakur’s claim to Tupac’s estate will be dwindled by half.
The marital union between Shakur and Gust lasted for 12 years, and ended about year ago. The two never signed a prenuptial agreement, so Gust is looking to bank off of the split. The couple lived in North Carolina, and according to the laws of state, what each side is entitled to is solely up to the presiding judge. According to TMZ, Davis wants to walk away from the marriage with a lot:
They have lots of property and he wants, among other things, the right to live on their 50 acre North Carolina ranch and wants the keys to the houseboats. Gust, who’s a minister, also wants to keep his sweet Jag.
Additionally, Davis wants alimony. The estate of Tupac Shakur brings in about $900,000 per year, of which Afeni Shakur receives gets a monthly check of about $20,000, after expenses. Davis is demanding $10,000 every month.
Afeni Shakur, who is reportedly now living on a houseboat in Sausalito, CA, has formally requested that the judge refuse Davis’s requests.
