Authorities released surveillance of a violent shootout between alleged rival gang members at a Denver car wash – and two young children were nearly caught in the crossfire!
A Denver gang member involved in a car wash shooting that was captured on video in Sept. 2015 was sentenced to federal prison Tuesday.
Dedric Delaine Mayfield, 39, of Denver, was sentenced to 57 months for being a felon in possession of ammunition. Following the prison sentence, Mayfield must serve three years on supervised release.
According to court documents, on the afternoon of Sept. 22, 2015, Mayfield and a friend were at a car wash near 35th and Downing streets, next to a gas station and convenience store in Denver, washing an SUV.
A group of rival gang members showed up at the car wash.
Mayfield signaled to his friend to come out of the car wash bay. He came out and gunfire began. – NBC 9 News Denver
