There’s allegedly a war going on outside no man is safe from on the streets of Chicago’s Southside. The rivaling factions are said to be the Gangster Disciples and the Black Disciples, two Chiraq street institutions in the Englewood section of the city. Much like the “100 Days 100 Nights” war waged this summer between beefing members of the Rollin’ 100s Crips and 52 (5-Deuce) Hoover Gangster Crips, the war was announced via social media by concerned citizens. It appears that the Chicago Public School system sent out the alert earlier today, and the threat of warfare has been substantiated by Chicago police. A Facebook post made a few hours ago reads:
CPS staff just received a message confirmed by CPD there is a gang shooting war between the GDs and BDs. The police are asking that individuals stay clear of 79th and Damen to Cottage Grove as well as 76th and Seely to Ashland. This war is allegedly retaliation regarding the nine year old’s people and the 20 year old model’s people. Both deaths are reportedly gang related. The war is reported to begin today and last over the next few days.
The nine-year-old mentioned in young Tyshawn Lee, who’s death has made headlines nationwide. Tyshawn was allegedly
lured into an alley in the Gresham section of Chicago, known as “Killa Ward,” by members of of the Terror Dome faction of the Black P Stone Nation. They were allegedly looking for Tyshawn’s father, Pierre “Wooh Gotti” Stokes, a suspected member of the Killa Ward Gangster Disciples.
The 20-year-old model mentioned is Kaylyn Pryor, an aspiring model gunned down in Englewood on Monday as she left her grandmother’s home and waited for a bus home to
Evanston. Kaylyn stood with a 15-year-old boy who was also hit by the shots fired from an SUV. The boy is now in critical condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Kaylyn was an “unintended target,” according to the Chicago Tribune.
No one has been arrested for either one of these murders. There are rewards in each case for information leading to arrests. Over $50,000 is being offered for information on Tyshawn’s killers. $10,000 is reportedly being offered for Kaylyn’s killers. The Rev. Michael L. Pfleger of of Chicago’s Saint Sabina Church is instrumental in both rewards.
It is advised that you move with caution if you are in or around the Englewood area. Stay safe.
