All too often, we come across stories of some nut trying to smuggle drugs through an airport. Of course, we never hear about the successful smugglers who make it from Point A to Point B undeterred. However, it seems like the countless stories of folks trying to smuggle, through all types of methods, would discourage so many from trying. Furthermore, a lot of these cases involve smuggling drugs from Jamaica. That brings us to JFK International Airport in New York City, where customs agents busted a woman trying to get it done this weekend.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection stopped Shekira Thompson, an American citizen, after she arrived at JFK on a flight from Jamrock. They escorted her to a private search room, where she admitted to having cocaine stashed in her vagina. The pack was removed and tested positive for cocaine. Thompson had a total of eight ounces of coke in her lady parts, which has an estimated street value of $10,000.
Thompson (born in 1991) was turned over to the Port Authority Police Dept.. She now faces New York state narcotics smuggling charges. Her next court date is scheduled for March 9.
According to its latest annual report, customs across the United States intercepts more than 10,300 pounds of illegal drugs a year.
