Social media is one of the most innovative, influential tools that has been developed in this century. Like never before, we can communicate with each other and share information with the world with the click of a button. However, we see people doing way too much online, making wild, controversial statements. Looking like an asshole isn’t the only downside of reckless social networking. More and more, people are losing their jobs and relationships due to messy social media posts. People also get locked up often after drawing attention to themselves on social media. There’s now an app that can help you out if you are prone to making what most would deem offensive. It’s called Clear.
Clear is a new iOS app for iPhone users. It connects to your social media accounts and can get erase posts containing cuss words or insensitive remarks about racial groups and lifestyles using an algorithm. After a search, users get a breakdown of their foul posts and they can erase them as needed.
The Clear app’s creator, Ethan Czahor developed it influenced by his own troubles with a controversial online presence. He lost his “dream job” as chief technology officer for presidential hopeful, Jeb Bush after tweets of his referring to women as “sluts” and using homophobic language. Website posts by Czahor demeaning Black people and affirmative action were also discovered.
Now, the Clear app wouldn’t have necessarily helped Czahor. Clear handles social media posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, at the moment. Some of his controversial posts were on his personal website. If you can’t help yourself and just have to post offensive material, the Clear app might be for you.
