With every passing day, the new gives us loads of evidence that the world is a crazy place. There is a myriad of people out there with some of the craziest causes the human mind can conjure up. Daryush Valizadeh, 36, is a prime example of this type of crazy person. Under the name Roosh V, Valizadeh is the founder of a “neomasculinist” group called Return of the Kings. He has published 15 books on how to “pick up women” and offers tips on how to “bang” women on his website. Surely, there is plenty of this kind of material out there, but Valizadeh and his group take things further by advocating for the legalization of rape.
Valizadeh planned on having meet-ups across the world promoting his ideology this coming Saturday in 40 countries, including England, Canada, Australia and the United States. Of course, there are scores of people in these areas ardently opposed to these ind of meetings occurring in their areas, and started a petition on Change.org to have them barred. Originally, Valizadeh, from Maryland, scoffed at the opposition calling petitioners “stupid.” Now, in an ironic turn, the man calling for men to rape women is concerned for the safety of himself and his followers. On his website, he cancelled this weekend’s proceedings, writing:
“I can no longer guarantee the safety or privacy of the men who want to attend on February 6, especially since most of the meet-ups can not be made private in time. While I can’t stop men who want to continue meeting in private groups, there will be no official Return Of Kings meet-ups. The listing page has been scrubbed of all locations. I apologize to all the supporters who are let down by my decision.”
Maybe now, Valizadeh is experiencing karma for publicly endorsing the idea that men should have the legal right to harm women. If you would like to sign the petition banning “Roosh V” from entering the US and Canada, click here.
