With every story coming forth about every escape that Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman makes from law enforcement, his legend grows. One could only be reminded of “The Gingerbread Man” reading these stories. No matter what level of authority comes at the world’s premier drug lord, they still can’t lay a hand on him. The latest reports from CNN tell readers that El Chapo fell off of a small cliff after special forces pursued him on foot.
The authorities have been able to get their eyes on El Chapo a few times since he escaped maximum-security prison through a tunnel in July. According to reports, he was seen in Mexico’s Durango region on October 6th with his sons on a motorcycle and in a Ferrari. The most recent episode of the Sinaloa Cartel ruler’s evasion of the law came in the town of Cosala, located in the mountains of the Sinaloa state. El Chapo was seen with a little girl. When Mexican Marines saw him without the child, they pursued on foot. El Chapo fell off of the cliff as they closed in. He was whisked away into the dense forest by bodyguards who clamored to his aid at the bottom of the cliff.
It is being reported that El Chapo suffered a broke leg and facial injuries as a result of the plummet. The reported injuries have boosted morale among his hunters, who believe the broken leg will slow him down and make capture easier. However, the people have El Chapo’s back, and stand in the way of his apprehension. According to officials, residents are protecting El Chapo, especially those in his hometown of Sinaloa.
