The actions of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, the man supplying most of the world with the drugs they love, have been that of a true legend. The man escaped from maximum security twice, and continues to evade the law after his latest elopement. Since his escape, the police of the world have been playing a real-life version of “Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego” as they look for the kingpin. This weekend, El Chapo’s son released a dubious picture supposedly with his father in Costa Rica. However, that appears to be (as many speculated) to be a decoy for the laws. Reports out of Mexico are saying that El Chapo was almost cornered in Mexico recently at a hospital, but slipped out untouched.
According to the Latin Times, El Chapo was involved in a car accident in Macuspana, Tabasco. He was taken to Hospital Regional de Macuspana where he was treated. The Mexican feds were notified immediately and headed to the hospital to apprehend the Sinaloa Cartel ruler and put him back behind bars. They didn’t move quick enough, though. When they arrived, El Chapo was gone. The Latin Times reports:
The medical report states that minutes before authorities arrived at the institution, the subject asked to be released from their care and left, which increased everyone’s suspects and put the whole town on alert. Members of the military arrived to the scene and began searching the area, warning other patients and their families about the possible presence of one of the most wanted men in the world.
When the hospital’s director, Rogelio de la Cruz, was confronted about the situation, he denied the happenings and refused to the disclose any personal information about the patient. The search for “El Chapo” Guzmán continues.
El Chapo is clearly too connected for the police to keep up with him. We’ll bring you more as more developments on the drug lord’s movements are reported.
