It’s all over social media today. Apple’s iPhone 6 is officially dropping. As is customary for the new iPhone release, people have been camped outside of Apple Stores in hopes of securing one of the coveted cellphones or waiting for theirs to come to their house. In all the hubbub, becoming the first person to get one takes some doing. Some will camp out hours in advance of the store opening or pay someone to do so for them. It’s like this all over the world. The London Evening Standard caught up with the man who was the first person in Perth, Australia to get the new iPhone.
Jack Cooksey, the first person in Perth to get his hands on the iPhone 6, was interviewed immediately after his purchase by Perth News. “It was crazy, people were yelling and trying to get to the front of the (general) line,” he said. He was asked to open the box and show the phone. Seemingly nervous, Cooksey opened the box, but his shaky hands dropped the new iPhone on on the ground! This would likely cause many to have a heart attack being that the new iPhone retails about $650.
It’s all good though. Apple would be embarrassed if their prized product would be destroyed after a little drop. Cooksey’s phone was OK. “I dropped it in a panic to get it open, luckily it’s covered in plastic, so it’s fine,” Cooksey told the Perth Sunday Times. “I just can’t wait to open it again — and not drop it.”
All’s well that ends well.
