In preparation for his new album, Church In These Streets, Jeezy has been running a campaign called #SundayService, where he releases a new song every week until the album’s November release. This week, The Snowman released a track titled, “Gold Bottles.” While the track sets the tone for the album with his signature sound and builds anticipation, it serves a much bigger purpose. The song serves as the first advertisement (of sorts) for Jeezy’s new champagne brand that is slated for a 2016 release.
With the announcement of his new bubbly, Jeezy follows in the footsteps of his former boss, Jay Z, who acquired ownership of the Armand de Brignac (Ace of Spades) champagne brand. “Project Gold Bottles” (the name of Jeezy’s new business venture) is not the former BMF affiliate’s introduction into the liquor game. Before that, he served as Avion tequila’s “multicultural advisor.” From there, he formed a relationship with Avion founder Ken Austin. From the press statement (given to HipHopWired), it seems that that relationship gave birth to “Project Gold Bottles.” In the press release, Jeezy said:
“I have long loved high-end tequila and champagne and this love has inspired me to create a rich, full bodied champagne that represents my passion. I am fortunate to have a partner like Ken whose entrepreneurial track record includes my favorite ultra-premium tequila. Ken has a deep understanding of the drinks space and several luxury categories that I know will be invaluable to growing this business. I look forward to bringing a luxury champagne to my fellow artists and fans in the near future.”
