Currently, international drug lord of all drug lords, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman sits behind bars in New York City after being extradited from Mexico. It is said that extradition to the US from elsewhere is a drug lord’s worst nightmare, because they can’t live the cushy lives behind bars they would’ve enjoyed in their native land. Now, El Chapo’s lawyer, Lawyer Jose Luis Gonzalez Meza, is calling on President Trump to deport El Chapo back to Mexico, and he has sound reasoning.
Gonzalez Meza says that Trump should deport Chapo in accordance with his move to round up and deport undocumented immigrants who have committed illegal acts. El Chapo certainly fits that bill. According to NBC News:
Lawyer Jose Luis Gonzalez Meza held up a banner outside the Mexican Attorney General’s Office in the capital Wednesday that read: “Mr. Trump, Deport the illegal and criminal Chapo Guzman.”
Gonzalez Meza also accuses Mexican prosecutors of violating due process when extraditing El Chapo. “That means he is in the United States illegally,” he said. “We are going to ask he be returned, because he is illegal and criminal!”
El Chapo has pleaded not guilty to charges of drug trafficking, money laundering and more.
