Money & Violence gained quite the following when it aired it’s first season on Youtube. The show depicting the life of a Brooklyn jux artist and his associates captured fans of shows like The Wire who were thirsty for another dramatized show based in real life. It also appealed to fans of the cult-classic Snow on the Bluff, with its do-it-yourself method of filming. Regardless, viewers had to respect the guerilla-style tactics used to film an entire series with little budget or know-how. Now, the fruits of Moise Vernau’s (creator of Money & Violence) labor have paid off. It was recently announced that the second season of Money & Violence will air exclusively on Tidal. The streaming service is sure to draw fans willing to pay for a subscription with its new acquisition.
The merger was made known at the TIDAL X: 1020 concert earlier this week. Atlanta trap-rap pioneer, T.I. made the announcement that Money & Violence, season 2 will premier on Tidal’s entertainment platform. It will join scripted content like They Die By Dawn, a 50-minute film by Jeymes Samuel starring Erykah Badu, Michael K. Williams, and Rosario Dawson.
Verneau took to Instagram to celebrate his accomplishment:
Jay told me I respect the fact that you’ve done it all. You tried music and it didn’t work. You did clothing. You moved on to media and now you tried this. I literally woke up one morning and said “What’s the next thing that I will try my hand at?” to myself. I was getting paper off the streets. I was doing good but I always hated when people asked “So what do you do?” Because I never had an answer. I would always say “I’m currently seeking a few independent business ventures” but now I proudly say that I’m a film maker. God is great and through him all is possible. The only human hands that can stop you are your own. All is possible. #MoneyAndViolence
