This collection of videos featuring master news anchors (a rarely mush-mouthed) Dan Rather, Peter Jennings and Tom Brokaw from 1984 on the biggest cocaine bust in history at that time.
Around 13 tons of coke was seized at a cocaine processing facility (labs, airstrips, all that) in “the jungles of Colombia,” worth over $1 billion on the streets at that time. Colombian forces fought a daylong battle with the Colombian communist faction M-19 (you’ll remember them from Narcos), who was defending the site. Eleven people were killed and 40 were arrested, including an American pilot. Everything (the coke, guns and seven airplanes) were burned, in accordance with protocol.
