As the days go on, it seems every other one, an NYPD officer is being accused of misconduct of some sort. There is a clear problem with police who can practice their profession and abide by the laws of the land. Now, an NYPD sergeant and 10-year veteran of the force faces charges including rape.
Sgt. Vladimir Krull was arrested in the Hunters Point section of Queens Tuesday for allegedly committing various sex crimes. His arrest comes as the result of an investigation by the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau. The litany of charges he faces are two counts of rape, two counts of criminal sex act, two counts of sexual misconduct, forcible touching, endangering the welfare of a child and sex abuse.
It is reported that Krull committed these crimes on the teenage child of a the woman he was in a relationship with. The teen is reported to be a 13-year-old girl and the abuse occurred over a span of two years. DNAInfo reports that it is believed that sexual abuse happened six times between September 2013 and September 2014 at various locations in the Bronx,including the teen’s own home.
NYPD Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said, “It is a very unfortunate circumstance and we’ll be working very closely with the district attorney’s office on that case moving forward.”
Krull was once a celebrated officer for stopping a bank robbery. He was assigned to the Midtown North Precinct before his arrest. There will be more to come as this story develops.
