Joshua Lee Long is a troubled man. He is sitting in Cumberland County Jail n Pennsylvania right now on charges stemming from a string of burglaries. That’s small potatoes. The police suspect him of stealing something way out of the ordinary: a human brain. Long reportedly named the brain “Freddy” and kept it under the porch of his aunt’s trailer-home in a Walmart bag. What he was using the brain for was even more orthodox than stealing it: he and a friend used it to get high.
Police said the brain was discovered by Long’s aunt while she was cleaning the trailer-home, according to NBC affiliate WGAL. The station reported that she contacted her nephew in prison to ask about the brain and he told her that it belonged to him. At some point, she contacted police and told them about the brain, according to the Associated Press.
“The defendant related that he knew it was illegal to have the brain and that he and (another man) would spray the embalming fluid on ‘weed’ to get high,” Trooper John Boardman, an investigator involved in the case, wrote in court documents cited by the AP.
If you didn’t know, embalming fluid has long been used as a means to get high as Hell. People normally dip their cigarette or weed in the “wet, smoke it, and lose their minds. It produces a similar high to PCP. Scary stuff. When the cops say Long and his buddy “sprayed” the embalming fluid from the brain onto their bud, they gotta mean they duo were rubbing it on the brain before smoking. Yikes.
Nevertheless, on top of his current $100,000 bail, Long, 26, now faces more charges of misdemeanor abuse of a corpse and conspiracy to commit abuse of a corpse. There is no word where the brain actually came from.
