Way back in February I wrote a little piece on how to stay trendy and warm in blizzard. I posted it a mere two months ago when the hurricane equivalent of a blizzard was ripping through the north-east but in reality that feels like distant memory. Who remembers snow? Not me. Summer time is in full effect. Well, maybe not yet, but as soon as the temperature creeps up above 60 degrees and restaurants open their patios it’s hard to not get in the mood.
There are couple things that go hand in hand with summer. These include, but are not limited to things such as BBQs, road trips, vacationing, patio parties, outdoor sports and long jogs in nice weather. What do all these activities have in common? They can all be exponentially enhanced by mixing in the perfect summer playlist. For some strange reason, music and summer have some sort of unwritten bond that is inherently known. All the big music festivals are in the summer, album sales statistically increase and rappers try ever so hard to “dominate” the summer. Music and summer just go together; it’s science.
With that said, you have to make sure your summer playlist is on point. There is no worse feeling than attending a BBQ and when asked to plug your iPhone into the aux cord and the first track that comes on is some boring Coldplay track from 2005. Not a good look. From May 1st – August 30th you’ve got to make sure your phone, computer or Spotify account is armed with the best songs for summer. The trick is making sure it’s balanced between new bangers, deep cuts and timeless classics. Sprinkle in some easy sing-a-longs and you’re set. Luckily, we made you fine folks a starter pack with 25 tracks for your summer playlist that are guaranteed to keep the function bumpin’. *results may vary*
