Shipment of Carrots Turns Out To Be A TON Of Trees!
The world of drug dealers has proven to be one of the more creative fields out there. Since people started running illegal substances, those running them have come up with creative ideas to evade the long arm of the law. In recent weeks, we’ve seen smugglers utilize many methods to sidestep the cops. Most of these methods have been used to conceal cocaine. We haven’t seen to much done with weed. That is, until now.
Carrots have been known to improve eyesight when consumed. However, U.S. border patrol in Pharr, TX found a large shipment of carrots to actually be another vegetative plant known to improve eyesight: cannabis. According to CNN, a truck was carrying the load of carrots across the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge, located along the Texas-Mexico border close to the Gulf of Mexico. The truck’s haul was flagged by the imaging inspection system there and a secondary search was conducted. CNN reports the findings:
Almost 3,000 carrot-shaped packages were discovered mixed in with real carrots. Officers were able to fill up the beds of two pickup trucks with the seized contraband. The estimated street value of the marijuana is $499,000.
It’s been said that Mexican exporters have been phasing out of the American weed business, since the sweet cheeba is being produced more and more here, due to legalization efforts. Evidently, they’re still getting business in The States, if someone is trying to move a ton across the border.
