Six Leaders Of Chicago’s Black Souls Convicted In First Test Of Illinois’ RICO Law
Those in the know know that Chicago is the birthplace of gangbanging. The city is home to many gangs and subsets. One of them is the Black Souls, which was founded in the early 1960’s. This weekend, six leaders of the Black Souls were convicted on charges of racketeering. The trial was the state of Illinois’ first test of its 2012 RICO law. The case began in 2013, when 20 Black Souls were rounded up in a predawn raid. All but the six on trial pleaded guilty. Of course, others got to snitching and were part of the 100 witnesses that took the stand. The six convicted this weekend face up to life in prison.
