SMH: Security Guard Caught Stealing $100,000 On His First Day
Nineteen-year-old Larry Brooks’ people must’ve been proud of him when he landed a job as a security guard with Garda, the cash vault and transport company. Their suspected pride must’ve been short-lived, after Brooks, of Elizabeth, NJ, was caught stealing $100,000 from the company on his first day.
According to NBC 4 New York, Fairfield police say Brooks was caught on the company’s surveillance camera stealing the cash while working. Before contacting police, company security officers recovered $86,000 from a car parked in Elizabeth. Brooks was then arrested and charged with second-degree theft. He was released on his own recognizance.
Instead of working a good job, it looks like Brooks will be spending some of his young adult life locked up. It is unclear if he has retained the services of an attorney.
