It is no secret that beloved comedian and actor Bill Cosby may not be the most upstanding guy. To date, 30 women (many of whom had aspirations of being in show business) have come forward saying that they were drugged and sexually assaulted by Cosby. Cosby and his lawyer, Martin Singer, both staunchly claim that the “Cosby Show” star is innocent. In a statement, Singer said, “The new, never-before-heard claims from women who have come forward in the past two weeks with unsubstantiated, fantastical stories about things they say occurred 30, 40 or even 50 years ago have escalated far past the point of absurdity.”
Due to the statute of limitations on rape in multiple spots, a number of the accusations against Bill Cosby cannot be pursued in court. That has changed for women in the state of Nevada. Gov. Brian Sandoval plans to sign into law an extension of the statute of limitations on rape in the state to twenty years from four years. A woman named Lise Lotte Lublin has been instrumental in this change as she has lobbied for it. She has reason to. She is one of Cosby’s accusers.
Similar to the other alleged victims, Lublin claims that Bill Cosby drugged her drink and took advantage of her when she visited his Hilton Hotel suite in Las Vegas in 1989. She thought she was there about an acting opportunity. Lublin is being represented by Gloria Allred, who is also representing Linda Kilpatrick, who claims Cosby drugged and raped her after meeting him at a tennis tournament at the Vegas Hilton in 1981.
