BIRDMAN SAYS HE DIDNT ORDER HIT ON LIL’ WAYNE.
Of course, he did. What was he supposed to say?
The beef between Lil’ Wayne and Baby has escalated to unforeseen levels. Who would have thought that two men who call each other Daddy/Son would ever get to this point.
It appears that just like relationships, artists and their labels are destined for a break-up.
In the late 90’s Ruff Ryders, Cash Money and Roc-a-fella ruled hip-hop. This is not debatable it’s #fact. Each of them at one time was worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Not bad for a bunch of “ALLEGED” dope boys from the hood. There is a saying in the street when a trap-star is successful at selling drugs for a while, “They had a good run.” Then the feds come knocking, and they all start snitching. (just playing – hmm… no, I’m not) The feds come knocking and lock everyone up- GAME OVER.
In the case of Ruff Ryders and Roc-a-fella- it may have been their greed or “hurt feelings” that was responsible for their collapse. Cash Money seems to be holding on by a thread.
We all grab our popcorn, sit back and enjoy the fuckery that ensues while these music moguls and their artists are beefing. No one seems to realize that the self-destruction of these “empires” affects “us” all. The EMPIRE like “ratchetness” (pun intended) that goes on just gives “them” credence to their racist beliefs that African American’s are savages. It makes it harder for the next generation who are trying to get on.
I hate to see black men fail. I don’t have to like them or agree with how they move. But I respect that each of them were determined and worked hard to pick themselves up and not become statistics (dead or in jail.) It pains me when I witness these same individuals lose everything due to stupidity. Yes, I said stupidity.
One example is Ruff Ryders and DMX. Once DMX was no longer recording the label disintegrated. Why did they break up? DMX who was Ruff Ryder’s franchise player- wanted a piece of the company. DMX said at the time that Joaquin “Waah” Dean promised him part of the company when they were struggling to get on. He probably did say that and he probably sincerely meant it at the time. Once those 7 and 8 figure checks start rolling in, it appears that everyone’s memory gets cloudy.
The Dean brothers didn’t agree with DMX and didn’t want to give him what he was asking for. After some beefing, cars getting set on fire and whatever else- Ruff Ryders and DMX parted ways. Legally or not, I don’t know- But DMX didn’t do any more albums with them (or with anyone for that matter.) and Ruff Ryders seemed to no longer exist. The break up wasn’t good for any of them; DMX has been arrested a million times. He is in jail as I type this and his net worth today is – $10 million (yes, negative) The Dean brothers didn’t make out any better. They lost their deal with Interscope and Darrin Dean ended up doing a bid for possession of narcotics. smh!!! #sad
Let’s not leave out Roc-A-Fella Records which is the most disturbing story of all to date. Here someone appears to have won- but at what cost? Clearly Jay Z’s star has risen since the breakup. He is now the third richest man in the hip-hop game. None of the parties involved has ever really told the absolute truth as to why they REALLY broke up and I’m not here to snitch. Whatever the reason was- Jay could have left them better off. Unless one of them tried to kill him or his mother, I can’t imagine anything else that could have gone on between them that would make Jay turn his back on Dame Dash and Kareem Burke. They were pioneers in the hip-hop game and it is sad that their legacy will forever be overshadowed by their breakup. Since they parted, Dame has had, endless financial problems and Biggs went to jail on narcotics charges. Jay didn’t completely win he has REAL DUDES giving him the side eye and his street credibility is in the negative. (He couldn’t care less.)
In this situation, I am not sure if they could have worked it out BUT Jay could have done some things differently, so everyone was still standing. smh!!! #sad
Now on to our latest hip-hop divorce- Cash Money and Lil’ Wayne. There is so much gossip as to why Wayne wants off the label – from Cash Money not putting Wayne’s album out to Wayne being upset with Baby because Baby was paying too much attention to Young Thug.- Whatever! It doesn’t even matter. There will be a new rumor tomorrow.
Cash Money may have still existed without Lil’ Wayne, but he was the franchise player for that team. And even they have to admit they didn’t get RICH until they developed Lil’ Wayne. Then Lil’ Wayne brings more money to the table by signing Drake and Nicki to Young Money- (which is a subsidiary of Cash
Now they are beefing, and shots have been fired- – Not #Blacktwitter shots but actual gun shots. There allegedly is a State indictment in Georgia that alleges Birdman and Young Thug were involved in shooting at Lil Wayne’s tour bus in April 2014.
This story is far from over there will be more violence, more lawsuits and a lot of shit talking before this is all said and done. What I can guarantee you is that Baby and Slim are NOT letting Lil’ Wayne, Drake, Nicki, Tyga or anyone else off CASH MONEY without a HUGE payout. And even that is no guarantee.
I intentionally left out the break up of Dr. Dre and 50Cent and 50Cent and G-Unit- that one will require a book.
