Apparently, being in a 1% biker gang is more prestigious than being in an urban street gang. Could you imagine the hammer that would come down if hundreds of Bloods and Crips had a shootout in a public where multiple people were killed? The book would be thrown at them like nothing we’ve ever seen before. However, the Bandidos and Cossacks are being held to another standard.
As of today, none of the 170 bikers arrested for the massacre at the Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco, TX are in jail, and only 22 of the 135 ordered to wear GPS ankle monitors are still ordered to wear them. To take things even further, no one has even been charged with the deaths of nine people on that fateful May day, or the 20 people injured. Those who were arrested have been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, according to The Guardian. The paper writes:
McLennan prosecutors did not return messages from the newspaper seeking comment. But defense attorneys suggested the district attorney’s office eventually plans to dismiss charges against at least some defendants.
“We are starting the letting-go process, although they are not admitting they did something wrong,” said one attorney, Adam Reposa of Austin.
If this doesn’t show that our justice system is flawed, I’m not sure what will. As stated before, if these were Black gangs/organizations, the members involved would be under the jail. The news media would be releasing pictures and names, and creating more content to make the gangs look like the Boogie Men. What is so different about the biker gangs? They sell drugs and kill each other, too. Somehow, the bikers are untouchable, it seems.
