Unarmed men are being killed by the police left and right this August. On the backs of the killings of unarmed men of color John Crawford (Beavercreek, OH), Mike Brown (Ferguson, MO), Jose Paulino, Jr. (Tamaqua, PA) and Ezell Ford (Los Angeles) this month after being fired on by police, yet another incident man has lost his life tragically by the hand of a police officer.
This time, 26-year-old, White father, Andrew Scott Gaynier was shot to death by the Dallas PD’s Antonio Hudson, who was off duty at the time, the Dallas Observer reports. At around 6PM, 911 dispatched that a man was in the Oak Cliff area “walking up and down the street making lewd comments to females.” Hudson responded and found Gaynier who fit the description. The Observer reports:
According to police, Hudson saw Gaynier try to get into a moving vehicle with a family inside. “The officer made contact with the suspect out of concern for the safety of the family,” police said. “The officer gave loud verbal commands, but the suspect refused to comply.” Next, Gaynier allegedly yelled for Hudson to shoot him along with war-cries as he charged at the officer. Hudson then hit Gaynier four times killing him.
Hudson was not hurt and will be put on administrative leave, as is customary after a shooting.
