Delaware Dept. Of Corrections Selling Inmates ‘Playing Cards’ In Hopes That They Help Solve Cold Cases
In August, the Delaware Department of Corrections started selling playing cards which feature the faces and cases that the New Castle County Police Department, Wilmington Police Department and Delaware State Police have deemed “cold,” in hopes that the inmates will help solve them. According to DelawareOnline, New Castle County police Chief Col. Vaughn Bond said, “The hope is that while they’re sitting there playing their game of cards, that somebody will say, ‘You know what, I have some information on this. I’m tired of sitting behind bars. Let me make a phone call.'”
The playing cards have worked for police in Connecticut. The state credits the cards with the closing of 20 previously-cold homicide cases.
