2018 has been a tragic year for hip-hop. Over the months, the hip-hop world has lost quite a few emcees aspiring to make names for themselves. Probably the most notable loss was the talented-yet-controversial rising star XXXTentacion (gov’t name Jahseh Onfroy) who was gunned down during an attempted robbery while he was shopping for motorcycles in Florida. Before his untimely passing, the 20-year-old revealed that he was in the midst of crafting three new projects: ?, Skins and Bad Vibes Forever. X’s mother decided to add to her son’s legacy by releasing his music posthumously. Thanks to her efforts, Skins is now in the world.
There is only one feature on Skins and it comes from none other than legend and fellow polarizing figure Kanye West. The project is short at only ten tracks, but judging by X’s penchant for creating music that resonated with young folks, it should be a substantive offering for his adoring fanbase.
